In the book of Genesis, everyone's familiar with the story of Joseph and how forgiveness and love has been ascribed to him since he graciously forgave his brothers who plotted to kill him because of jealousy. What birthed from hate grew into a beautiful story of love, and of compassion. Tonight, folks, God is taking me on a wild, speeding train and i am writing this out of nothing but pure guidance from the Holy Spirit: If you will, join me
Joseph had foresight and understood his place in the will and plan of God- although his life was plagued with trial upon trial, he did not resent God or blame Him for separating him from his beloved father and brothers, a huge price he had to pay for something he had not done.
He certainly also did not give the glory to himself when he made it big as the Pharaoh's equal- he could have said to his brothers 'Thanks to you, I am prospered and powerful.' Neither did he say 'I did it, you tried to kill me but it was my will that gave me strength to overcome.' Joseph did not. Instead, when he revealed himself in Genesis 45:5, he reassured his brothers "do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.' And in verse seven, 'But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by great deliverance.' Joseph spoke with great wisdom and understanding of a plan greater than himself and greater than any plan his brothers or father could have fathomed. He understood one clear truth and that is:
God's agenda is higher than man's agenda.
He did not let the emotional hurt or pain distract him from listening to God. He threw off all personal agenda to serve the God whom he honors- Joseph's submissiveness placed him in a position for blessing and for favor. Furthermore, Joseph's eleven brothers, with a common goal, the same wicked plan, couldn't hold God back from saving Joseph and prospering him. A lustful, persistent woman couldn't hold Joseph down in shackles. What God has in store, no tangible, mortal prison bars can contain, no human emotion or desire can limit.
folks
if it wasn't for the trials in Joseph's life, he would have died with his father and brother in the famine years later. If it wasn't for his submissiveness and forgiving spirit through these trials, he would not have been a possible candidate of God's power and favor with Pharaoh and the land of Egypt.
So the next time life takes a swerve for the curb, trust Him. Submit to His voice, because you'll never know if a blessing is sitting in the rubble or if favor is encapsulated at the bottom of a bottle of pain. Most importantly, be like Joseph. Throw off all personal agenda and refuse to be shacked by your closely calculated plans or fears. Instead, keep your feet on the ground with godly values, your burdens light through Christ. For when the wind of God blows, you'll be ready to take off regardless of the storm clouds that loom nearby or the worldly burdens that used to hold you down. You will be in a position of freedom- freedom to be blessed.
Right now, He is looking for eyes that are set on Him and hearts, set on His Kingdom. Today, God's hand is outstretched towards you, asking
will you
trust in Me?
